Every day our software and hardware systems are controlling and monitoring electrical loads (like Electric Vehicle chargers), energy storage systems (like grid-scale batteries) and renewable energy systems (like solar and wind). Our systems are balancing conflicting demands several times a second to ensure that the maximum number of renewables can be accommodated onto energy grids. More renewables mean less carbon emissions. That’s just got to be good, right?

ResourceKraft is recruiting a Software Developer to work on our cloud-based energy monitoring and analysis softwareWe are looking for a passionate self-learner who is flexible and hardworking. The ideal candidate should be fluent in multiple software languages and technologies with the ability to choose “the right tool for the job”. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a state-of-the-art monitoring and analysis system that will be deployed in great numbers worldwide. 

What you will do:

  • Develop, integrate and test embedded software that will run on ResourceKraft’s embedded hardware platforms
  • Work with a range of stakeholders to ensure that the correct software features are developed and that the correct hardware decisions are made
  • Participate in all phases of the Application Development Lifecycle
  • Gain an understanding of the energy efficiency business and our customer's concerns regarding energy and be capable of meaningfully contributing to discussions
  • Be prepared to occasionally undertake international travel and visit customer sites to assist with deployments and to better understand customer requirements 

General Requirements: 

  • Minimum 4 year’s experience
  • Highly disciplined approach to the management of multiple configurations
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent work ethic, dependable, and responsible
  • Good collaboration skills
  • Strong logical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be EU citizen or have a valid Work Permit for Ireland and own Visa
  • Fluent in spoken and written English with good communication skills

Technical Requirements:

  • Very strong knowledge of Linux
  • Strong experience with embedded systems. While ResourceKraft can be flexible regarding the exact mix of skills, the successful candidate would need to be familiar with many of the following: serial communication (RS232, RS485), TCP, IP, correct handling of embedded boards, I2C, GPIO, J2ME, cellular communications, embedded Linux distros, board support packages, device drivers, custom Linux kernels, embedded controllers, resource-constrained embedded devices
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills
  • Strong Python skills
  • Knowledge of at least some of the following IOT protocols/methodologies: MQTT, mbed, REST, CoAP, XMPP
  • Ability to use source control software like git

Knowledge/Experience of the following is desirable, but not essential: 

  • Lua, shell programming
  • Android development
  • Embedded security technologies such as Trusted Platform Modules
  • Micro-controller platforms
  • FPGA programming
  • Digital electronics, analog electronics
  • Statistics
  • Machine learning silicon
  • the energy sector
